Mission Service

Mission Service is central to our understanding of God’s dynamic work in the world. PCM is dedicated to serving God's people and reaching out in Christian love to those here in Tucson, in the U.S., and overseas.

MARCH 2018 Location: TBD

On November 4th, PCM will be helping out with Iskashitaa Refugee Network on their Pumpkin Harvest at Buckelew Farms. The harvest starts at 9 AM so we will meet at the CCC at 7:50 and leave promptly at 8:00 as it is a 40 min drive. If you are interested in helping out, send us an email!

Starting in 2012, PCM launched its fall SATURDAY OF SERVICE! It's always a fun day of fellowship and service right here in Tucson. More info to come on the date and location of the Saturday of service.

Past Mission Trips

Our 2016 Mission Trip to New Orleans, LA was such an experience! Our mission team partnered with Lakeview Presbyterian Church et the YAVs! Through our partners we participated in programs like Project Homecoming, NOLA Tree Project, Program of Hope, and so much more! While there we were shocked to learn just how affected this community still was by Hurricane Katrina and also how much everyone had come together and grown from it. We met many wonderful people and got to experience some of the 'Nawlins culture. It was a great trip!

Annual Spring Break Mission Trip: Every year, PCM invites students to participate in a week-long mission trip over the UofA Spring Break! Once the team is formed, they meet several times for trip preparations, fundraising, and the study of Scriptures. Upon return, the students are asked to present their reflections to the PCM Students as well as several congregations in the Tucson area. The Spring Break Mission Trip is one of the highlights of the year for most students!

In order for this opportunity to be available and affordable, PCM tries to do a 3-year cycle of our service locations rotating between local, national, and international. For the 2018 Spring Break Mission Trip the location will be local.

Past PCM Mission Trips include:

  • 2016 New Orleans, LA (National)
  • 2015- Silver City, NM (Local)
  • 2014 - Jiminez, Costa Rica (International)
  • 2013 - Miami, FL (National)
  • 2012 - Las Vegas, NV (Local)
  • 2011 - La Oroya, Peru (International)
  • 2010 - Hollywood, CA (National)
  • 2008 - Northern Ireland (International)
  • 2007 - Los Angeles, CA (National)
  • 2006 - New Orleans, LA (National)
  • 2005  - Rocky Point, Mexico (International)
  • 2003 - Dixon, NM (Local)

LOCAL MISSION IN TUCSON: Many of the local Presbyterian congregations here in Tucson are connected to local non-profit and Christian service organizations. PCM desires to link the UofA students to those partnerships already in place.

In 2014, PCM began participating with St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church's SERVICE WORSHIP program! Check out our Upcoming Events page for more details.

A YEAR OF SERVICE: Hey PCM grads! Not sure "what's next" for you? Consider taking a year to serve in a community--either here in the U.S. or somewhere overseas--while discerning God's call for you! The PC(USA) Young Adult Volunteer Program is something PCM supports and endorses! We also have funds available to support you if you decide to apply and serve as a YAV.
